Welcome from Professor Tom Kvan, Dean, Faculty of Architecture, Building & Planning
I am delighted to announce that construction of our landmark new Faculty building is well ahead of schedule, with a revised practical completion date of August 8, 2014. This is four months earlier than anticipated and reflects the impressive work Brookfield Multiplex is doing to drive this complex project towards completion. The University will conduct commissioning works in August and September, and Faculty staff are scheduled to relocate to their new premises in October and November.
John Wardle Architects and NADAAA, architects in association, have created a state-of-the-art environment for students and academics and a building that will soon become a popular destination for design-related public events. The building’s official launch will take place in December, with students commencing semester one studies in a stunning new learning environment. Located in the centre of campus, we can’t wait to welcome you to our new home. You can stay up to date with this exciting project on the new building blog – abp.unimelb.edu.au/blog
Our talented researchers, students and alumni continue to explore and impact our built environment, both in Australia and internationally, and we profile a number of them here.
