About us

Cover of the Melbourne University MagazineOver several decades of publication, the Melbourne University Magazine (MUM) has provided a forum for alumni, staff and students to share their experiences and ideas with the community.

Our intention is for MUM to provide an avenue for great thinkers to discuss issues, ideas and events of global importance and local significance, and that the dialogues created by this are accessible to those beyond campus walls.

And as the global presence of our alumni continues to grow, we are expanding these dialogues through the digital forum of MUM online, and via the Melbourne Uni Alumni Facebook page.

MUM reminds us that the University has been directly linked to many important historical milestones, both through academic inputs from within and the contributions and leadership of citizens who have been nurtured by the University.

As alumni, staff, students and friends of the University, we are united in our belief in the value of growing and sharing knowledge, and MUM is one way we can continue to share our stories across disciplines, generations and cultures, and far beyond geographical borders, and remain committed to represent and promote education for public good.

We hope that reading MUM gives you some insight into our rich and vibrant alumni community as well as its ongoing interests in what the University does. We encourage you to find out more about how you can connect with alumni by visiting the alumni and friends portal.

If you are not on the alumni mailing list but would like to receive an electronic version of MUM, please email the Alumni Relations team at alumni-office@unimelb.edu.au. If you have married or changed your name, please include your former name under which you studied at the University.

We hope you enjoy the 2011 edition of MUM and we welcome your feedback.
